Edward Nash Yourdon (Ap – Janu ) was an American software engineer, computer consultant, author and lecturer, and software engineering methodology pioneer. He was one of the lead developers of the structured analysis techniques of the s and a co-developer of both the Yourdon/Whitehead method for object-oriented analysis/design in the late s and the Alma mater: Massachusetts Institute of Technology. SSADM (Structured Systems Analysis & Design Method) is a widely-used computer application development method in the UK, where its use is often specified as a requirement for government computing projects. It is increasingly being adopted by the public sector in Europe.

Real-Time Systems Development introduces computing students and professional programmers to the development of software for real-time applications. Based on the academic and commercial experience of the author, the book is an ideal companion to final year undergraduate options or MSc modules in the area of real-time systems design and implementation. Jackson Structured Programming. Jackson Structured Programming (JSP) was the first software development method that Jackson developed. It is a program design method, and was described in his book Principles of Program Design. JSP covers the design of individual programs, but not systems. Jackson System Development.

Some structured methods are better suited to handle concurrency than OT methods and can be used for the selection of processes in real-time systems. The selection process should first include the establishment of a set of evaluation criteria followed by an evaluation and comparison of potential OT methods that support these criteria. Yourdon provides a fresh perspective on structured systems analysis, integrating traditional methodologies with modern technology. He thoroughly discusses data modeling, real-time systems, prototyping, and 4GLs.N.
